Here's a poem I wrote about part of our composting training which was in the Cambridgeshire Master Composter Newsletter. It's our weekend away at Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales…
We went on a trip to C.A.T
Centre for alternative Technology,
Lunch at Ryton on the way
then to Wales, Aberystwyth Bay.
The seaside in winter, a wonderful sight,
dinner and quiz to round off the night.
Up bright and early, off to C.A.T
It's raining, so wellies and waterproof hat
A bit of a New Age Science Park feel,
powered by solar, wind and wheel.
Environmental projects at every turn
with Guides who want you to listen and learn.
The composting section, oh so neat,
so many alternatives to digging peat.
Bins of wood, metal and plastic.
All the compost turned out fantastic.
Even the compost made from poo,
don't forget the composting loo.
After lunch, time to wander alone
with thoughts of building an "Eco Green" home.
A small spot of retail therapy too
and even try out the composting loo.
Then back on the bus and Ryton for tea.
Scones, cream and jam, sounds OK to me.
I think we all had a really great tour
and hope HDRA can take us on more.
